How To Troubleshoot The DVR Expander With Your TiVo?

1)      You can get the firmware version of the DVR Expanders on the system of the TiVo DVR information screen. Just head to the TiVo Central - Settings and Messages – Account & System Info – System Information

2)       On the screen of system information, also do verify that the TiVo DVR is running the latest version 9.2 or any upgraded.

3)      Getting the “External Storage Missing” message after rebooting the Roamio Series DVR-

At the time of detaching the external eSATA drive from a TiVo DVR, you get the message of either to link the drive or just press Clear to unmarry the eSATA drive from the DVR. By just pressing the Clear on a remote in the RF mode, the message will not get removed, and the DVR eventually will not reply to all the button presses.    

To fix out the problem, just put the RF remote in the IR mode. Right on the Slide Pro remote or Roamio remote, just press and hold the TiVo+Red C buttons until there is a flash of the red light. After that, just press the Clear to move on.  

After the DVR has been rebooted, just put the remote in the RF mode by pressing and holding the buttons TiVo+GreenD until there is a flash of amber lights.

4)      Getting an “Unsupported Device” message after trying to add a DVR Expander
You will get this message at the time when you try out to add an incompatible external hard drive to a high definition TiVo DVR. If you get this message as the error on the screen, the follow the below steps:

·         First, you will require ensuring that you are using up a certified TiVo DVR Expander. 

·         Now, check out that the TiVo DVR is running the latest software version 9.2 or higher. After that head on to detach the DVR and DVR expander, then delink the eSATA cable from the DVR. After that, head on to plug the power back into your DVR. And after the restart of the DVR, head on to check out the software version from TiVo Central- Settings and Messages (or Messages & Settings) - Account & System Info and then System Information.

·         Head on to restart the TiVo DVR and the DVR Expander, and then check out the eSATA connection.

Ø  Head on to unplug the power cord of the TiVo DVR and then do the same with the power cord of the DVR expander.

Ø  Now, head on to verify that the eSATA cable is linked safely to the DVR expander and TiVo DVR. 

 Note: At the time of using the TiVo DVR, if you head to delink the eSATA cable, it will make the DVR to restart.  

Now, head on to verify that the eSATA cable that you are accessing is originally come up with the DVR Expander.

Note: You cannot access the eSATA of any third party. As using any third party, the cable can cause some of the serious problems in the performance, such as loss of the recordings, rebooting, and low recording quality.   

Now head on to check out that the eSATA cable is not placed near any speaker amplifier and anything which will produce a strong electromagnetic field.  

Also, check out that the DVR expander is not against the surface as it could put up a sharp bend in the eSATA cable.
